Recipe: Special Biryani with Premium Jeera Powder

Ingredients: For the Rice:

  • 2 cups basmati rice

  • 4 cups water

  • 1 teaspoon salt

For the Biryani:

  • 1.5 pounds (700 grams) chicken, mutton, or your choice of protein

  • 2 tablespoons ghee or vegetable oil

  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced

  • 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste

  • 2 tomatoes, finely chopped

  • 1 cup plain yogurt

  • 2 teaspoons Premium Jeera Powder (cumin powder)

  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder

  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)

  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder

  • 1 teaspoon garam masala

  • 1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)

  • Fresh cilantro and mint leaves, chopped, for garnish

  • Fried onions, for garnish (optional)

  • Saffron strands soaked in milk, for garnish (optional)

  1. Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for 30 minutes, then drain.

  2. In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add the soaked and drained rice to the boiling water along with 1 teaspoon of salt. Cook the rice until it is 70% cooked (it should still have a slight bite). Drain the rice and set it aside.

  3. In a separate large pan or skillet, heat ghee or vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced onions and sauté until they turn golden brown and caramelized. Remove half of the onions and set them aside for garnishing.

  4. To the remaining onions in the pan, add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute until the raw smell disappears.

  5. Add the chopped tomatoes to the pan and cook until they turn soft and blend into a thick gravy.

  6. Reduce the heat to low and add the plain yogurt to the pan. Stir well to combine it with the tomato-onion mixture.

  7. Stir in the Premium Jeera Powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well to coat the spices evenly in the gravy.

  8. Add the chicken, mutton, or your choice of protein to the pan and mix it well with the spice mixture. Cook until the protein is partially cooked and coated with the spices. If using mutton, you may need to cook it for a longer time until it is tender.

  9. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).

  10. In a deep oven-safe dish, spread a layer of the partially cooked rice at the bottom. Then, add a layer of the protein and spice mixture. Repeat the process, alternating layers of rice and protein, until all the rice and protein are used.

  11. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake it in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes. This will allow the flavors to meld together and the biryani to steam and cook fully.

  12. Remove the biryani from the oven. Garnish with the reserved caramelized onions, chopped cilantro and mint leaves, and fried onions (if using). For an added touch of luxury, drizzle saffron-infused milk over the top.

  13. Serve the Special Biryani hot, accompanied by raita, salan, or your favorite side dishes.

Get ready to indulge in the splendor of our Special Biryani, where the mesmerizing aroma of premium jeera powder intermingles with the fragrant rice and tender protein, creating a symphony of flavors that will leave you longing for more. Enjoy the royal feast fit for connoisseurs and savor the unparalleled richness of this culinary masterpiece.
