Indian Fish Stew


  • 500g fish fillets (Bhetki/Basa), cut into bite-sized pieces

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

  • 1 onion, chopped

  • 2 teaspoons Orgalive garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoons Orgalive ginger powder

  • 1 teaspoon Orgalive cumin powder

  • 1 teaspoon Orgalive coriander powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon Orgalive turmeric powder

  • 1 teaspoon Orgalive green chili powder (or to taste)

  • 1 tablespoon Orgalive tomato powder

  • 2 cups water

  • Salt, to taste

  • Chopped coriander leaves for garnish


  1. Heat the oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for 2-3 minutes, until it starts to soften.

  2. Add the garlic and ginger powder and sauté for another minute add little water to prevent burning of spices.

  3. Add the cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and green chili powder and sauté for another minute until the spices are fragrant.

  4. Add the tomato powder and stir to combine with the onion and spice mixture.

  5. Add the fish pieces and sauté for 1-2 minutes until they start to brown slightly.

  6. Add the water and salt, and bring the mixture to a boil.

  7. Reduce the heat to low and let the stew simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and tender.

  8. Adjust the seasoning if needed, and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.

  9. Serve hot with steamed rice or bread.
